Beth's Free Hair Ribbon Crochet Pattern

Beth's Free Hair Ribbon Crochet Pattern

"There are many Beth’s in the world, shy and quiet, sitting in corners till needed, and living for others so cheerfully that no one sees the sacrifices till the little cricket on the hearth stops chirping, and the sweet, sunshiny presence vanishes, leaving silence and shadow behind."

When I originally got the idea to design a hair ribbon for each March sister, I knew I wanted to make sure one was available for free. I don't know what it is about Beth's ribbon, but it felt like the right choice.

I made 2 options for this ribbon - a pig-tail version and a headband version. Of course, you can take the pig-tail version and make it as long as you want, making a darling ribbon similar to Meg's. I liked the idea of a transitional ribbon for Beth, the eternal youth, that included a pig-tail version. It seemed like the perfect way to capture her as a little girl, as she will always be.

I like that this ribbon can also be made into many other things. This Christmas, I crocheted a very long version and used to to wrap Christmas gifts. You could also make it into a tiny belt or banner to hang Christmas cards on. I believe the practicality of it suits Beth. I think she would have been the one to, instead of hanging Christmas cards or Father's letters on a piece of twine hung above the hearth, create a delicate ribbon for such a task.
